IIS: MMC Permits Too Many Characters for FTP Welcome Message
When you connect to a Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) or Internet Information Services (IIS) computer that is running the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Publishing Service that is configured with a Welcome message, only part of the message is displayed.
The FTP Publishing Service sends a maximum of 1,023 characters of the Welcome message to the client.
Limit the Welcome message to 1,023 characters or less.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
For more information about how to create an FTP Welcome message, see the “Setting FTP Messages and Directory Output Style” topic in the IIS 5.0 online documentation.
